MOLLUS Collection says: Old Headquarters at Port Hudson, La., – occupied before the surrender by Lt. Gen. Franklin Gardner, commanding Confederate forces; after the surrender bu Genl. George L. Andrews, commanding U.S. forces. The house, tents, cook-house and mess-room were occupied by General Andrews and staff from July 1863 until the Spring of 1864 when a new headquarters was erected inside our inner line of fortifications, the completion of which left the old headquarters outside.
