Williss, Historical Base Maps. Appomattox Manor – City Point, p80 says: The blacksmiths, wheelwrights, and other laborer’s employed by Co. Strang were undoubtedly kept busy repairing equipment at the Quartermaster Department’s Repair Shops. The repair shops consisted of at least five buildings: two large buildings measuring 183 by 24 feet each, one 130 by 24 feet, and two smaller structures measuring 21 by 40 and47 by 23 feet respectively. The two large buildings together cost $5,940, the others $1950, $600, and $750 respectively. While the exact location is not known… the repair shops seem to have been in the general vicinity of the Depot Field Hospital.
