Gibson and Gibson, Dictionary of Transports and Combatant Vessels Steam and Sail Employed by the Union Army, 1861-1868 says: CONNECTICUT; steamer; 1100 tons. Chartered Aug 25-Sept 26, 1862; Oct 7-17m 1862; Nov 6, 1862-Jan 5, 1863; June 15, 1863-Mar 31, 1864; Apr 20, 1864-Sept 9, 1865. Used as hospital ship and medical supply vessel during Grant’s drive on Richmond, May 1864. She is shown in a photograph near City Point Virginia, while on Army service during 1864. At that time, she was being used to evacuate wounded. Her crew was especially commended for that service.
