Gibson and Gibson, Dictionary of Transports and Combatant Vessels Steam and Sail Employed by the Union Army, 1861-1868 says: DICTATOR; steamer; 583 tons. Chartered Feb 26, 1864-May 7, 1865. Was operating either from or to Bermuda Hundred in June of 1864; her capacity was about 900 men and 50 horses for short troop lifts.
