Gibson and Gibson, Dictionary of Transports and Combatant Vessels Steam and Sail Employed by the Union Army, 1861-1868 says: OCEAN WAVE; sidewheel steamer; 270 tons. Chartered Mar 15, 1862-Apr 26, 1863 Used to carry troops for the raid up the Pasquotank River, Apr 1862. In Dec of that year she is mentioned as carrying a unit of the 1st New York Marine Artillery on a raid up the Neuse River. Chartered Apr 22, 1864-Aug 11, 1865, during which she supported amphibious and supply operations in Virginia. Chartered Aug 1, 1867, for unknown period; Sept 20, 1867, for unknown period. According to Heyl, she sank at the dock at Mobile, Alabama, in 1867.
