Gibson and Gibson, Dictionary of Transports and Combatant Vessels Steam and Sail Employed by the Union Army, 1861-1868 says: SILVER STAR; steamer; 202 tons. Chartered Apr 22, 1864-June 12, 1865. One of the steamers employed to move troops from City Point to Washington for defense of that city in June 1864.
