MOLLUS collection says: Pittsburg Landing, Tennessee. The steamer farthest up stream is the Tycoon, dispatched by the Cincinnatti Sanitary Commission with stores for the wounded.

Gibson and Gibson, Dictionary of Transports and Combatant Vessels Steam and Sail Employed by the Union Army, 1861-1868 says: Tycoon; steamer; tonnage unknown. Expedition to Pittsburg Landing – Shiloh, Apr 1862. Employed in Vicksburg campaign of 1863. Employed May 29-Nov 5, 1863. Chartered May 23-29, 1864. Pressed July 4-11, 1864, for retaliatory action against Marmaduke’s force on the Mississippi; Aug 27-Sept 4, 1864. Detention Oct 15-28, 1864, while on the White River. Hired Jan 17-24, 1865; however, she was probably retained well into Feb. of 1865 when she was reported as carrying a cavalry unit.
