Gibson and Gibson, Dictionary of Transports and Combatant Vessels Steam and Sail Employed by the Union Army, 1861-1868 says: NEPTUNE; screw steamer; 1730 tons; 1848 tons. Chartered Jan 16-July 29, 1865. Carried part of artillery brigade to Texas in June 1865.
