Gibson and Gibson, Dictionary of Transports and Combatant Vessels Steam and Sail Employed by the Union Army, 1861-1868 says:NEW YORK; propeller steamer; 158 tons; 187 tons. Chartered Apr 27-May 31, 1861; Sept 23, 1861, for unknown period; Dec 12, 1862-Feb 25, 1863; Apr 19, 1864-May 8, 1865. Utilized on the James River expedition in the spring of 1864. “Dropped from rolls by order of Quartermaster General June 1, 1865.”
