Gibson and Gibson, Dictionary of Transports and Combatant Vessels Steam and Sail Employed by the Union Army, 1861-1868 says: BRIDGEPORT; 2nd class sternwheel river steamer; 130 tons; 184 tons. Built by Quartermaster Department in Bridgeport, Alabama, at a cost of $30,000. Date of completion probably June 1864. Located at Chattanooga as of June 30, 1865; condition rated as good.
