Gibson and Gibson, Dictionary of Transports and Combatant Vessels Steam and Sail Employed by the Union Army, 1861-1868 says: KINGSTON; sternwheel steamer; 62 tons; 93 tons. Built by Quartermaster Department in Bridgeport, Alabama, on the Tennessee River, at a cost of $12,000. Entered service Dec 1863. Used in supplying Chattanooga. Located at Chattanooga as of June 30, 1865; condition rated as good.
