Gibson and Gibson, Dictionary of Transports and Combatant Vessels Steam and Sail Employed by the Union Army, 1861-1868 says: LOOKOUT; 3rd class sternwheel steamer; 87 tons; 193 tons. Built by Quartermaster Department in Bridgeport, Alabama, on the Tennessee River, for supplying Chattanooga. Launched in fall or early winter of 1863; was still in service by Jan 1864. Located at Chattanooga as of June 30, 1865; condition rated as good.
