Hochadel, Abraham’s Engines says: Mason no. 112. 4-4-0. 15×22 in. cylinders. 60 in. drivers. 1862.05.03 Purchased from the builder for $9000 as USMRR Dept. of Virginia #26/“D. C. McCallum” (note that the records seem to indicate that for a short while the Virginia roster included a “D.C. McCallum” and a “Col. McCallum,” the latter being New Jersey no. 280, which was perhaps purchased under a different name and then quickly renamed when this engine was lost). 1862.05-08 Used on the Orange & Alexandria RR and construction. 1862.06-08 Repaired at Alexandria. 1862.08.27 Abandoned by Gen. Pope on the O&A during second Bull Run. 1862.09-1865.04 Leased by the Confederate government to the Richmond & Danville RR and renamed “Pocahantas.” 1865.04.05 Recaptured on the R&D. 1865 Used as “Pocahantas” on the O&A and construction. 1865.10 Sold to the Baltimore & Ohio RR, becoming #267. 1882 Retired by.
