Haupt, United States Military Railway Department. Construction And Transportation. No. 39. Shows the west end of the Bridge No. 36, after the experiments had been completed and the vertical boards removed to show the results. At this end, the boards which formed the top and bottom chords, were simply nailed on blocks not stepped as at the other end. The ends of the truss, as also the lines A B and C D, show the amount of slip. There appears to have been no slip of the boards upon each other.
