Haupt, United States Military Railway Department. Construction And Transportation. No. 40. Shows the east end of the Bridge No. 36, after it had been tested. A B and C D represents lines drawn vertically previous to the experiment. This end of the bridge does not exhibit any perceptible slip. The boards of the top chord, it will be perceived, are stepped into the block, which is not the case at the other end.
