Photographic History. The War For The Union. No. 2401. John Burns, the hero of Gettysburg Slaughter pen at Gettysburg. The story of Old John Burns has been often told in song and story. The only citizen of Gettysburg who took part in the battle. He was wounded three times. This photograph was made soon as he was ablt to get out again. By his side is his old flint-lock musket which he used in the battle. [Taylor & Huntington album card]
