Abdill, Civil War Railroads, p183: While the Union forces were in control of Louisiana, the shops of the New Orleans, Opelousas & Great Western Railroad turned out this 4-4-0 woodburner, erected under the supervision of the U.S. Quarter Master Department. The engine was named the COL. HOLABIRD.
