Office of the Provost Marshall at Bermuda Hundred, VA, on the banks of the James River. Bermuda Hundred was at that time the depot of the Army of the James. The post was garrisoned by the 24th Massachusetts Infantry, under command of Major Thos. F. Edmands. Lieutenant Colonel Albert Ordway was Provost Marshal.
