Grand Review of the Armies of Grant and Sherman, on Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC.

Katz, Custer In Photographs, p65 says: General Custer rides in the Grand Review on top of a fiery racehorse named Don Juan. Just prior to his arrival at the reviewing stand, the horse bolts, knocking Custer’s hat from his head. Custer displayed excellent horsemanship while controlling the horse. Taken May 23, 1865.
