Library of Congress says: Exterior view of Fort Sumter from Charleston harbor after the bombardment.

A View Of Fort Sumter, Charleston, S. C. From the East. This Picture of Fort Sumter gives a good view of the Eastern, or sea face of Fort Sumter, with the Light House situated on the Northeast corner. The wood work on the outside, having the appearance of a wharf, was erected by the Confederate authorities for the purpose of holding the sand bags which were used to resist the fire from the Monitors and other naval vessels on this portion of the Fort. This outside work was built of Palmetto logs, a portion of which can be seen at the present time. [unidentified stereo card]
