Library of Congress says: The tunnel under the “Citadel” dug by the Union forces with a view to blowing it up. [Date from United States. Army New York Infantry Regiment, 165th (1862-1865). Album of the second battalion Duryee Zouaves. [New York?], 1906. “This photograph shows the Citadel on the left of the Breastworks of Port Hudson, La., on which we charged on June 14, 29, and 30th. We used hand grenades on the night attack of June 29 and 30, 1863.”]
