Brady’s Incidents of the War. (Signal Camp of Instruction.) near Georgetown, D.C. [Brady Co. cabinet card]
University of Maryland, Baltimore County says: Officer lays on ground with telescope. Two other soldiers, one holding reins of three horses, the other holding pole with flag. Identified in Miller’s Photographic History of the Civil War (v. 8, p. 13) as an officer in the Federal Signal Corps reading a distant signal. Version that appears in Miller is cropped to center of this image.
