MOLLUS Collection says: “Billy” Crump, Co. I, 23rd O.V.I., Orderly of Col. R. B. Hayes, 23rd O.V.I. returning from a “Foraging Expedition,” (Feb. 1863) from Camp Reynolds near Gauley Bridge, up Gauley River to “Twentymile Creek” and up that creek and over Sycamore Mt. to Sycamore Cree. Traveling about 50 miles in two days, and bringing back about 50 chickens, 2 turkeys, 1 goose, 20 or 25 dozen eggs and from 20 to 30 pounds of butter. Riding a white Mare and carrying Col. Hayes’ Colt Revolver (Now at Fremont).
