MOLLUS Collection says: Old Headquarters at Port Hudson, La., – occupied before the surrender by Lt. Gen. Franklin Gardner, commanding Confederate forces; after the surrender bu Genl. George L. Andrews, commanding U.S. forces. The house, tents, cook-house and mess-room were occupied by General Andrews and staff from July 1863 until the Spring of 1864 when a new headquarters was erected inside our inner line of fortifications, the completion of which left the old headquarters outside. In the foregroud of the pictured are (from left to right) Gen. Andrews, comd’g, Mr. Luther, A.D.C. – Major John Landgon Ward, C.M. and J.A. – Mr. Fiske, A.D.C. and Major Geo. B. Halsted, A.A.G. The tent directly behind Gen’l. Andrews was occupied by Col. B. W. Quincy, Inspector-General.
